what are the best 1911 magazines for the $$

I have several 1911's, and I use mainly Wilson mags. I do have a few Chip McCormicks and a couple Kimber Tac Pro mags. If you are buying new mags, Chip McCormicks are the best "value", but I buy all my mags used off ebay or message boards. I can regularly find Wilsons for a third off the new price.

I do this too. You can find Wilson's on the cheap. I think I paid 20 apiece for the last 47d's I bought still in the package.

Tripp Cobra is #1, and Wilson Combat is #2.

In my opion, Tripp is the best out there, but they arent cheap. I like the WC ETMs aswell.

I like Chip McCormick mags.

The 8 round Shooting Stars are flush fit and run just as good as the Wilsons for 10 bucks less.

Call me silly, but I don't like the way the Wilsons protrude out the bottom of the well. I like 'em to fit flush. The Shooting Stars are a little tougher too. They also use a steel follower instead of plastic.

I agree with GED. I like the CMC 8 round mags.

Never used their 1911 mags but their 92fs are the bees knees.

I picked up a Kimber mag under $10 on Sportsmans Guide. No complaints other than the base is too flat when loading on a closed slide.
