I can tell you what it’s like to be on deck and 105 degrees off the muzzle of a 5” gun when it fires 10 rounds.

Let’s just say you won’t want that experience again! :censored:

In that pict, it looks like the whole ship was pushed to the right (judging from the white 'waves' near the bow).
The ship doesn't move sideways in the water when the guns are fired. It does look like it. This was an old wives tale that went around for years. The muzzle blast causes the waves in the water. Just think about it, the ship is 883 ft long with a draft of 38 ft and weighs 58000 tons at full load.
