What zero distance for .22 LR?

Searched the forum, but I think "zero" is too short.

I put a little 4X Leupold on my .22 LR CZ fo fitty two (a can is next). At what distance should I zero it? Anyone have a ballistics chart that shows BOTH distances where the bullet crosses line of sight?

I want to turn this into a squirrel murdering tool.

Probably not fast enough to cross LOS 2x at any usable distance. I zero mine for 50 yards with CCI std velocity and have about a 2 mil hold at 100.

If you zero about 50 feet, it crosses again about 40 yds.
That makes it within 1/2 in almost to 50yds, which is what I prefer for squirrels to avoid mid-range overshots.

What BC did you use and what sight height? The sight height makes a huge difference.

50' is only about 17 yards. Many scopes have fixed parallax at 100y and will be pretty blurry at 17. I'd go for 50 yards or thereabouts to get a better zero. With standard velocity from CCI that will give you a first zero somewhere around 15-25 feet. According to that link posted.

With my S&W M&P 15-22, I took the carry handle off and mounted a good scope. I then sighted it in at approx. 100 ft. From 30-100 feet I can easily hit the bottom of a 12 ga. hull as fast as I can pull the trigger...and make the hull dance.

Leupold FX-1; parallax is adjusted for 60 yards. I plan to shoot CCIs with a muzzle velocity of 1050 fps. CCI website shows a 75 yard zero with a 1.5" sight height yields +1.2 at 25 yards, +1.8 at 50 yards and -4.3 at 100 yards. I can deal with that.
