Calcuim is the only thing I know of that can reduce the absorption of heme iron(iron found in meats).

800 mg calcium caused a significant 38% reduction of heme iron absorption.

If you google heme-iron and calcium you should find some more info. I think the studies came about in regards to people with iron deficiencies consuming calcium, but it should help you out some....

I have dangerously high iron for some reason and the only way to get rid of it if my body won't shed it is to give blood and reduce iron intake. I may see how it goes just giving blood. I have half a beef in my freezer and 3 bred Angus heifers out back.

I figured it had to be something along those lines. I just can't see cutting back to the extent your doc said cutting cholesterol that much. Check into some of the herbal stuff. Some of that stuff works, key word being some.

I agree with some. Change Dr's or at least get a second opinion.
If she is Hindu, they don't eat beef if I remember right. You might be getting some biased information from her.
