They are here this weekend at Wiley Post, B-17 flew in first and just now the B-24, both distinct engine sounds, have goose bumps. Have been up in the B-17 but not the B-24 or P51.

You must live near me because it flew over here, too. Must have landed refueled and took some people up. You are right, can't beat that sound, may have to go do the B-24 tour this weekend since I have never been close to one.

They are pretty sweet, im sure he is just getting attention or giving rides. either way its cool to see a piece of history still flying

The Collings Foundation just bought another B-24 that used to be the Confederate/Commemorative Air Force's "Diamond lil". It is a B-24A, and is one of the oldest Liberators in existence, much less flying.

A cool backstory to that plane is that it was an all-black 'carpetbagger' in the China/Burma Theater during WWII, and it was used to transport Chiang Kai-shek and his wife around the continent.

Stepping through that plane in particular is stepping through about 15 chapters in a history book.

WOW! That is neat. Love the history, and speaking of that have you ever read the Bio of Vinegar Joe Stillwell, The "Stillwell Expierence" I think. Commander of US ground forces in that area in WWII. One of the oldest Generals at that time. Glad they purchased the craft. Let us save our history, thanks,
