Anybody here that doesnt recognize that this could happen to them is living in a fantasy world. None of us are born with a tag on the back of our head that says "will never shoot himself or someone else by accident"

When you push the envelope in training, whether a fighter pilot or pistol training, stuff happens.

Ponder that for a second before laughing your butt off at someone elses misfortunes.

I give the guy credit for manning up and taking responsibility instead of blaming it on his gear.

Why was this guy inches from the target trying to quick draw? I found it amusing he took great care to not throw the kimber, but more gentle set it on the ground afterwards. Poor guy...

Let me say that the guy is an idiot, a very unlucky idiot.

Let me say that I, and all of us, are idiots, but most of us have been luckier than he.

Seriously though, it's a great eye-opening video of how small of a lapse in concentration or non-standard equipment can cause any of us to make mistakes.

Glad he's all right and willing to face ridicule to share a very important lesson to all of us.

This.

We can act imperious and pretend that we're superior and only dumb-asses have a lapse of concentration, but I've seen some really smart, accomplished and safety-oriented people do some "stupid" things.

The moral of the story is, don't act like something of this sort can't happen to you and you'll suffer from fewer lapses of judgement.

No kidding ... you weren't here for the thread when I loaded .40 ammo into a .45 1911 ... :ooh2: :rotflmao:

That's what happens when you take a BUNCH of guns and a BUNCH of ammo all in the same bag to the range. To make matters worse there were a couple of guys out on the range who knew me and were OSArs ... so there was no denying it ... :crying:

I read it. I have done the same thing once. I was trying to be a helpful husband and loaded Louise's magazine. Unfortunately I loaded .40's into it, but she noticed it as soon as it fired. After clearing the weapon, I kicked my self in the rear.

He says "after I got shot, my training took over." ;-) Too bad his training didn't take over before he shot himself.

I found that the only thing amusing about the video.Maybe he's a paramedic by trade. He was talking about stopping the bleeding and bandaging the wounds.
