I tore them up yesterday after the rain came through in the morning. Turned bright and sunny about 10 yesterday morning, so I launched the dingy on a little 50 acre lake. Started out fishing for crappie, but either there are none, or I really suck, but couldn't get anything to bite. Threw on a pumpkin brush hog and hit the edges of dollar weed along the ledges. Bass were devouring it. Caught 40-50 by the time I was done, with half dozen in the 3-4 pound range, my thumb is raw. Made for a great afternoon on the water, and a painful reminder that it is sunburn time.

No... have never caught one, but just started fishing it this year. There is another lake near it that has crappie, so was hoping some may have snuck upstream and took hold, but so far, nada. Crystal clear water, I can see the bottom clearly almost 8 feet deep. pretty shallow around the edges, about 3-4 feet, fairly thick dollar weed all around, then there are sharp ledges that drop to 15+ feet that make up the middle. Not sure what that means as far as habitat, I'm not a great fisherman, but the bass seem to do well there. This weekend was the first time to get out on the water. I was surprised at how shallow I have been catching fish when casting from the bank. In the evenings the frogs are deafening, so I tried throwing a topwater frog along the bank with great success. That is my favorite lure to throw, just so I can see them crash it.

That sounds like a great day fishing! Took my 6 year old boy out to our farm pond Friday, 7 bass caught, he baited his own hook with minnows and caught 4 all by himself. He was pretty fired up so we brought them home and cleaned em. It was a great time!

Cell service in Antlers has been spotty at best since a week ago Thursday. My phone has not rang in over a week. I was on a ridge last Thursday and got 17 voice mails and countless texts from another tower. Squirrel fell off the wheel I reckon. Email me or PM me, bout the only way I can communicate right now. I have somewhat enoyed the silence though...
