The difference is in the length of the cartridges, .22LR being longer than .22 Long. Most bolt guns will shoot either cartridge, but not all semi-autos made for .22LR will function with .22 Long.

The guy in the video left out the primer powered rounds like Colibri and CB caps, and probably some others.

SO TRUE! From what I remember the difference between Longs and LR was $.16 box. Longs = $0.50 and LR = $0.66. Had to be rich to shoot LR or get really lucky and catch them on sale and just happen to have 4 bits (which wasn't very likely).
