Pretty much a novice when it comes to knives so I could certainly use some suggestions. I'm looking for a reasonably priced, low maintenance, beefy folder for the emergency bag/BOB. Don't really have any brand loyalty. I carry a benchmade mini-grip tanto that I really like and have a Bush Monkey fixed on another bag, but I don't really care what brand this one is. Like I said, I'm pretty ignorant on the subject. My budget is $200 before tax but am always looking for a bargain. Thanks in advance, everyone!

If it's for a BOB, is there a reason you're going with a Folder and not a fixed-blade?

That being said, do you have large hands? Are you right or left-handed? Do you prefer a specific blade-profile (long and skinny, long and tall, Re-curve, sheeps-foot, Wharncliffe, drop-point, etc.)? You got any weight or length preferences? Assisted/Auto?

Folder for putting in a pocket or pouch. Right-handed. No specific blade type. No profile preferences. I like assisted, don't care for auto.

Depending on size (and if you like flippers, Spydie Holes, Thumb-disks, or thumb-studs), there are still about a million options.

Here are a few really good ones:

Benchmade full-size Barrage
Benchmade 890 Torrent
Benchmade Volli
Benchmade 940 or 943

ZT 0560 / 0561
ZT 0801
ZT 0566
ZT 0770

Spyderco Paramilitary 2
Spyderco Manix 2
Spyderco Gayle Bradley
Spyderco Sage 1, 2, or 3

I love these forums it opens my eyes to how old school I am I guess, I was thinking what is wrong with a Buck 110, Schrade 70t Oldtimer, Gerber, Puma, Boker Cronidur Classic, the old tried and true work horses. And the Puma and Boker are awesome looking knives to boot.
