So, my family and I will be road tripping to Tulsa for the Christmas Holidays for about two weeks staying at the in laws in Sapulpa. I promise to not ruin the area with my Calif stank. My wife an I like to take off in my truck and just drive for a day to see different sights and land. Here is my question.

Is there anything worth visiting or sightseeing in SE OK? Anything to do down near Broken Bow, Clayton, Antlers, Hugo areas? Whether small towns with neat/unique shops or other cool things to do in that part of the state? We just want to burn some gas and see some pretty scenery, etc. we have driven a lot up towards Skiatook area and loved the back country roads. We love the small roads and country scenery. What say you? Good area to day trip or........?

My favorite part of the state but I'm partial because i lived there. Go eat you some famous Italian food in Krebs on the way. Robbers Cave park is in Wilburton and has good scenery but the further south and east you go, the better it gets.

For scenery I agree Talimena drive. Fishing lower mountain fork is good but not fully recovered from the floods this spring. All in what your looking for in a day trip or quick overnight trip.

Lots of outdoor activities. Beavers Bend State Park is great, new nature center is really nice. Hugo has the ARK Asian Elephant sanctuary that's neat, and the Circus Cemetery is really cool. Idabel has a cool dinosaur/native American museum. Think its called Red River Valley Museum. If your over by Durant, eat a Roma's Italian Restaurant. Choctaw Nation's new casino is neat, has a bowling alley/arcade/movie theater section for families. It's smoke free.

Pete's Place for Italian. Hickory House in Sapulpa for BBQ, but order off the menu, not the buffet. +1 for Roma's in Durant.
