It's just the old Betty Crocker red & white cookbook recipe with some tweaks. I just double it, dial back the vinegar a little because of the wife, use a pound of bacon, and a few more boiled eggs than what's called for. In other words, use the BC recipe as a base and cook to taste.

I used my moms Betty Crocker cookbook to learn how to process my first deer. Had no prior idea how to do it. There is a diagram of a steer in the back that shows the cuts.
Great classic food cookbook.

Great classic food cookbook.

Basically how I learned to cook. No internet back then when we first got married. And we had basically no TV for the first 2 years except for the one AFRTS channel. Which sucked.
