This is mostly correct. 6 ARC lets you shoot long range with hight BC bullets out of an AR15 rifle. But when it comes to bolt rifles the 6 ARC still has the performance of the 243 and 6 mm rem but with less recoil. Plus if you are already reloading for 6 ARC ar15. the same powder primers bullets you already have. There are all kind of Pros and Cons but for me the pros out weigh the cons.

Does 6mm ARC still retain all the pros if you do NOT reload?

I looked up Hodgdon reloading data and compared 6 ARC to the .243 winchester.
Both charts used 24" barrels and I picked many different bullets and seems the 6 ARC is much slower than the .243.
Max loads in the ARC are sometimes not even as fast as the start load for the 243.

Not a great comparison as the 243 will not fit a short action but if you do need a short action ya know what is available in the 243 a WSSM and you just cant keep up with that round with an ARC.

I just need dead critter and the old tried and true .223 with a 55 V-Max does it every time for me.

I thought years ago I needed a 100 plus dollar ABU fishing reel then it hit me. Fish are stupid and if I need a 100 dollar reel to catch one who is stupid now.

I caught more fish on the "old" Zebco 33 and Penn #9 than any reels I have ever owned.

6mm Arc in a bolt gun with factory ammo leaves a lot to be desired. Its intended to use in a AR and the pressures are low for a bolt gun.

The 6ARC vs 243 Winchester, really doesn't start showing the difference till you get to the 105 or 108gr bullets, yeah its slower but the more aerodynamic bullet takes over and bucks the wind a bit better.

In the end though, its a solution to a problem that does not exist....

I looked up some velocity data on the three 6MM rounds. This will vary a lot depending on barrel length and bullet weight.

6MM ARC. 2800 fps
243 Win. 3200 fps
6MM Rem. 3500 fps

As to recoil, it’s mostly undetectable in both my 243 and 6MM Rem rifles. This is not criticism of the 6ARC in any way, my next AR15 build will be a 6ARC. I just don’t see the value of the round in a bolt action. Weight could be a factor, but comparing weight on ARs and bolt guns really isn’t fair.

For me its getting most of the performance of my long range gun in the smaller lighter package to hunt with. My 6x47 Lapua is running 3112fps and while I can use my 243 (only runing 2848fps average using factory 100gr ammo) I cant run the 105gr berger bullet in it where I can the 6arc. Plus a 22" sporter profile howa mini action with a leupold 2.5-8x36 will make a lightweight and optimal rifle for where I hunt. It should be about 3# lighter than my 243 and half the weight of my Lapua. The Arc using lever revolution powder has been making 2900fps on the high end in bolt guns and some have hit 3000fps with no pressure signs.

Personally I could care less that it fits in a AR platform as I just prefer bolt guns

I want one of those PSA or HMG, whoever is making them, STG44's in 7.62x39, BUT I don't know when they will be available and with a price around $1800, that seems a little to high for me. Also the pictures I've seen, the stock looks like its off of a rubber band gun, like it was cut out of a 2x6. I just think it would be cool to shoot, but I'd probably only buy one if they were around $1000.
