Yes, it's painful. Had it for 6-7 years. One Allopurinol 300mg in the morning and I'm good. Still drink beer regularly but eat less meat and more vegs. Hurts now and then but Not on crutches like at first. Usually take a Tylenol 3 and am ok.
I use one of these: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=304939
Works very well on bolt actions. It gets me on paper at 100yrds 1st shot. Does not work on ar's. (line of sight is too much higher than the bore)
When I was a kid (5-6) my dad use to melt lead on the kitchen stove for bullets. He did that for years. He's now 76 and in good health. None of our family has had any adverse effects because of it.

They will probably send a new one for free. That's been my experience.
If you're loading FMJ bullets, I agree that you don't save much over factory millitary ammo. If you load HP or SP bullets, the savings can be significant.
I like wooden, checkered grips. They look good and the checkering gives you a good grip on the gun.

I've shot several thousand Rainier bullets in 9mm 115gr JHP, 40s&w 155gr Flat Point & 165gr JHP, and 45acp 200gr JHP & 230gr FMJ. I am very happy with them. Sub 2" groups at 25 yrds off the bench is the norm if the gun and I are doing our part.
Also, the hollow points actually expand!
