I have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler that sits in the back yard most of the time, but I get it out when winter weather warrants it. In the summer, the top comes off and I drive it to the lake on weekends. If it cratered tomorrow, I'd be looking for another one to replace it. I can't justify FWD on my everyday pickup, but it's nice to have when needed.

Next Ice Storm, bring on your 4x4. From a dead stop on ice/slicker than snot road, I will pull away faster than your 4x4 with my little Honda and snow chains and I will stop faster than you can as well. I have owned several 4x4's and still have a old beater 4x4 on the farm. Don't let a little light weight front wheel drive car with chains embarass you! LOL!

Snow cables are excellent on ice, but when one drives through one county into the next, road maintenance can go from zero to very high. Sustained driving on cleared highway will ruin the cables. Unless you can pull over and take them off, then you may be dealing with icy pockets here and there where you need them again. Winter tires on your Honda would be a lot less hassle. I will always keep the cables in the trunk, but since I switched to winter tires in November, I've not needed the cables one time. Winter tires don't necessarily imply studs, mine have crushed walnut shell in them and are sticky on the ice. They've got their own rims and I'll be swapping them out this spring. I've not noticed any tread wear yet, and these should last for many winters. I use them on an old Escort FrontWD, and they are 100% effective.

I was up in KC several years ago when a snowstorm hit. I figured they were used to driving on it. WRONG! They provided us with lots of entertainment. More SUVs and 4X4's in the ditches than anything else. I was driving a Honda Odyssey. It did very well.

ROFL, had the same thing happening in 97-98 I was there driving around in a 91 Camaro RS, 305, 5 speed and the tires were like 10 inches wide.

Had a really bad staph infection a couple years ago and happened to be in a big snowstorm in Lawton. My wife was driving around in a little Neon with chains on the front end. We got around great heading from near the mall over to CCMH so I could get stuck, poked and prodded for two weeks till I was stable enough to go home which was in OKC. We passed quite a few 4X4's who would gun it to try and get going and then slide into the intersections cause they couldn't stop.
