This last Summer in Indiana, at one hotel, someone set off the fire alarm 3 or 4 days trying to cook in their room. Instead of cooking in the microwave unit, they had an open hotplate. Hotel staff had to threaten to kick them out. We left before we found out if they left or just quit trying to cook.

I remember you saying you didn't know how to cook. Nice of you to make it easy on the staff to leave before being told.

I just unplug the smoke alarm when we stay in places that aren't bacon friendly.

THAT has also been known to set off alarms in hotels. At least, that's what the hotel staff told us after one went off. Different hotel in different city.

Hmm someone once told me that code required those have a battery back up and they will sound if power goes out.
