Yep. He worked up there for almost 30 years. Hell I dunno -- I didn't go near the place. Lol Didn't he do a deal with you in the parking lot once?? Maybe that's when he was over there?? I have no idea ... Oh well who gives a flying ****?? Water under the bridge and all that ****. What kind of cookies do I need to bake?? I gave pstmaster's cookies away to the kids at Grumpy's job cuz I was too stove up to get out last week but I can probably drop some off ... Brownies would be better or lemon bars ...(translation: easier cuz I don't have to stand in the kitchen quite as much #hint hint).

yeah I forgot about that, I either sold him a pistol or bought one in the ODOT parking lot, cant remember what it was.
Sweety you dont have to worry about cookies now. Maybe later and I totally get standing in the kitchen very long.

In all seriousness though I’m just kidding around and not looking for money from people. Wife and I are doing “ok” and god willing plan to better as we keep moving forward.

My father happens to be one of y’all boomers who climbed the company ladder, invests wisely, saves, pays off everything he owns, excellent retirement/pension coming his way when he retires in 2 years. Etc. The man taught me a lot about work ethic.

We grew up broke as hell though… he didn’t start making the big bucks till after us kids moved out. I have 2 siblings, but when he passes away there should be a sizable inheritance.

That all sounds good, but remember this, Inheritance is not a retirement plan.

I have no one to leave mine too. Divorced, no kids and my siblings darn sure aint getting it.
Kinda sad really but it is what it is.

@CHenry my current wife of 47+ years and myself never had any kids by choice but I've got a 52 yr. old son by my first wife......him, his wife and my three grand kids (excluding my grand daughter that got a wild hair and joined the Army back in Jan.) live in Ga.

My son has done Extremely well in business and doesn't need whatever my current wife and I would leave behind after we go and with both of us liking animals we had our wills drawn up a few years ago that state everything we have (property, money etc) is to be split 50-50 between a local animal rehab facility and a non profit / no kill dog and cat shelter.

I have a friend in Tulsa who gets my library -- and a couple of the guns she covets but everything else goes to Dusty and the Oklahoma Youth Hunting Program. I feel kinda bad doing it ... The house is gonna be a pain in the ass to unload I think. Maybe not -- it's tripled in value (yes, I know that could very well swing back the other way) and it is a very quiet neighborhood for the most part. But ... At least it will make some kids VERY happy!

Pretty much our situation. Never made much money, and always had a house payment, at least 1 car payment, and always seem to carry credit card debt while all four kids were at home. Heck some months I had to charge gas the week before payday just to get to work ( I got paid once a month). Only now in retirement do we have the house I wish we had when the kids were at home and finally not living paycheck to paycheck. Key for us was getting debt free before retirement. Have a decent pension after 41 years at the same workplace and wife's SS. My SS is being banked because as of right now we don't need it for living expenses, guess that's our hedge against inflation, someday we'll probably be needing it to live on too.

Right. Although I sort of feel like that’s the way things should go. The proper progression of wealth so to speak.

I have no ill feelings about the fact that we grew up on humble means. Taught us a lot… how to shop bargains at garage sales and get the $300 bicycle for $50. How to work on things. We took care of the nice things we did have because you actually had to earn it. Etc… a few of my friends were the spoiled rich kid types and good grief they really are out of touch.

My dad went back to college when us kids were little. Got a degree in economics. Went into banking, he started off as a loan officer making something measly like $13hr. But he stayed in the field for the rest of his career and climbed the ladder. For a while now he’s been president of a lending institution. He makes well into 6 figures and his year end bonuses tend to be close to my annual income lol.. I’m very proud of my Dad!!!

The wife and I didn’t wait forever to have kids and build careers/wealth first (neither did either of our parents, so I guess it’s just kinda as what we are used to). We had kids young. Yes it has made things tough financially at times, but I wouldn’t change things a bit. I do not envy my friends who are waiting till they are 40 to start having kids.

You and I are living the dream. We bank my SS check and what's left of his pension after paying the bills. Right now I "let" him keep all the money he earns at O'Reilly's for spending money, after he covers health insurance for both of us.

Once he retires we will bank his SSI (because it will be the higher amount), as much of his pension that is left after utility and phone bills and sinking funds for things like taxes, insurance payments, and car and home upkeep, etc., and I'll split my SSI payment with him for mad money -- porn for him and TEMU for me. (Just kidding!! Maybe ... I mean he works with a bunch of 18- /20-something kids ... I'm sure they have explained to him what Only Fans is by now ... ) My gosh when we got together we didn't think we'd EVER see a month that didn't outlast our money. EVER. lol

Our generation of thinking doesnt exist anymore, I hate to say.
Now its entitlement city and lazy young people that dont know what its like to be poor whith everything handed to them from birth.
