I miss the check stations too. Mr. Bass in Skiatook is where I checked the most in. It was funny to see guys in compact cars with deer in the trunk or on the trunk. It was always enjoyable to visit with other hunters and see how the season was going according to the book.
I thought the reason for a checking in was to monitor population in each area or unit. It seems like checking a deer in by county wouldnt be enough info to decide if the population is adequate.... When i was a kid if rules werent followed the warden would take your gun and truck.
