I know as soon as most people saw the title, they went "are you kidding me?"
But I'm having a problem. I picked up a new stock today and am not having much luck installing it.
Here is a link to the stock:

Here is my problem: everything installs fine except the top barrel cover. It seems like the rear sight is making it to where the cover will not fit over the barrel. The instructions look as if the opening on the top cover is for the rear sight, but on this one, the opening barely is at the same spot as the rear sight.
I think If I could take the rear sight off it would go on.

Anyone have much luck taking that sight off? and if so, whats the pros and cons?

thanks for your time

I'm not going to be much help, I'm afraid.

The first thing I did to my 10/22 was replace the stock barrel with a bull barrel.

I went out to the shop/garage and looked at mine and saw that the rear sight will fold down (forward). I'm guessing that you've already tried that.

Good Luck............ I sure someone will know more then I..........

No rear sight in the picture.
take it off.
Just remember "ALL" sight dovetails are tapered.
It must be removed left to right.
