It's getting to be that time of year. I'm doing a more organized display this year and I wanted to see if anyone had any information about some things. All this is for the Tulsa area although I might be willing to drive a little to get some of the other stuff.

1. Does anyone know if somebody in Oklahoma makes/sells mortar racks with tubes for the consumer mortar shells?

2. Are there any fireworks stores in Oklahoma that sell the new 1.4 PRO(aka Articles of Pyrotechnic) class of items? For those of you that don't know, these are technically 1.4 items although they are mainly designed for professionals and are normally sold to people with the PGI card, shooters license or other proof of training. I have my shooters license.

3. Any good stories I should check out in Tulsa area? I'm going to need to pick up some 1.75 inch consumer shells for the show as well as a comet/mine cake or two

Go to Performance Pipe in Pryor and buy some of their HDPE pipe in the right diameter and cut to the lengths you need. Then mount them in a rack yourself.

Ammo Hut might sell to someone with their license. I'm not sure.

The best consumer place around is a tent on the south end of Pryor, on Hwy 69. People drive in from all over the state to by from Hook.

No one that I know makes motar racks in OK. They are easy enough to make yourself. I'm interested in the pipe shop mentioned above. You are looking for HDPE with an id of 1.91", if they have I would like to know. Mortars are easy to buy on line, usually already plugged, 12" or 15" are standard, then just make the racks yourself.

One of my best places to buy is Jake's, you have one in Tulsa. The one here in OKC has some of the best pricing I can get. Get on their VIP list and they send you some good coupons. PM me and I can send you some other links to some places I buy from.

Yep, it's too easy to build the racks yourself. Built out a bunch for a guy when I was working in Davenport, IA. Can't remember his real last name but his stage name was J.D. Addison.

Anyway he bought the pipe and cut it himself and bought the lumber to make the plugs and was able to pay the lumber yard to cut them all out for less than he could buy the tooling and time to do it. Glued and nailed two together then put them in the bottom of the tube and stapled them in place. Racks were 2x4 bottoms and 1x4 sides. We had a few people putting them together but one guy making the plugs another cutting the pipe a third putting the plugs in the pipe and a fourth putting the rack together. We cranked one out about every ten minutes and made about 100 while I was there plus the stuff they already had done before I showed up for around 400 racks total.

As far as someone who sells commercial stuff my google fu brought up http://www.hancefireworks.com/ or since Joplin isn't too awful far http://redrhinofireworks.com/ or http://www.blackmarketfireworks.com/ otherwise your next best bet may be https://www.waldfireworks.com/ but that will require a drive to the Kansas City area.
