I get what you're saying, but even then the intent of your statement was to legitimize or excuse modern restrictions on firearms.

Whenever and wherever it was done back then it was wrong, and it's still wrong today.

If anything your assertion proves the point that such laws are ineffective. Boston, with a population of only 667K, has had "gun control" since the 1700's yet there were 38 homicides in the city last year, 90% of them committed with an illegal gun.
Your mind reading skills suck. My intent was to correct an incorrect contention, not justify any gun laws. I believe we should still be able to own our own ships of war if we can afford them. Any gun control laws are too many.

I believe our stand should be supported by factual information. I correct erroneous information where I find it. If we base any anti-gun control argument on inaccurate info, we are using our enemies tactics.

I don't think all gun control is inherently negative or bad.

I think gun bans are bad, i don't think entire classes of firearms should necessarily be banned.

NOTHING pertaining to keeping and bearing arms should be banned. Period. Just because a person has an arm doesn't mean he will use it for malice. And, if he does, there will be enough armed people around him to make sure he doesn't do it again - CAN"T do it again.

Tell me, Tristan: What gun control laws would not be negative or bad?

Restricting machine guns to licensed individuals.

background checks.

making nuclear weapons, nuclear materials illegal, restricting fragmentation devices, explosives and cannons.

licensing for concealed carry, though no restrictions on magazines, gun locks or 'assault weapon' bans or such.

And how are any of those not an infringement on the Right to Keep and Bear Arms?
