Compounds polish the damage but the damage is still there. Sandpaper removes the damage. Sandpaper/UV will last years, polishing lasts months.thought polishing compound was a mild abrasive? same with sandpaper you'll be doing it again!

RockAuto probably be the cheapest sourceIf a guys car is to far gone for polishing, where should one buy new ones from? Honda CR-V 2012. Wife’s, and they are bad.
I have sanded them with 400 grit wet sand then hit it with 800 then 1000 and then 1500-2000 grit and then buff with a terry cloth and this.

I do the same when enlarging a die to fit a certain size case.
You’ll get a cleaner cut and your sandpaper will last better if you do. You can also go up to 3000 grit in steps if you want to go that far. Then hit them with the compound and glaze.Have never ever tried this. I am going to try. We are looking for another CRV, this one has 150k on it, been a good one and still runs as it always has.
Do you use water on all the grits as you go up?
