Should I buy a used Range Rover?

I've been looking for a clean four wheel drive SUV, CHEAP for a while. I've run across two Range Rover Freelanders in the last week. They are both in my price range. The thing is that I know very little about RR's. Some on the web rave about them, others rage about them. Seems like some of them have problems with the electronics. Any thoughts?

I seem to remember that the air-ride suspension and head gaskets and subsequent falling cylinder sleeves were the major things when I was looking at them a few years ago.

I was wanting a Range Rover, but then met a tech that worked at a dealership. He talked me out of it and let me see why the resale is so low on them.

Not a chance in hell I would own a Range Rover.

If I were given one - one of two things would happen. Cut the fenders and put giant tires on it to tear it up. Or sell it to a poor, unfortunate soul.
