There's plenty of lefties on here and quite a few of us are libertarian leaning socially. Just keep in mind that true socialism and personal firearms ownership for self defense are ideologically incompatible.
What are you referring to when you say "true socialism"; and why do you see them as incompatible?

I've started a gun club for leftists in the Tulsa area. The left is usually portrayed as being anti-gun. I would like to see that perception change. Give my page a like if you lean "left" and feel alone in this current political climate.

As if one subscribed to false book. A lot of us don't.

'true socialism' meaning communism, government control of all facets of life with power and force monopolized by the State, culture and a command economy. When he refers to 'true socialism' he's probably referring to systems such as that which existed in the U.S.S.R.

I believe he is trying to differentiate that from the social and economic liberalism that exists in the United States. Generally thrown in with communism in the same way that being a neo-conservative is thrown in with nazism and fascism. It's easy to throw modern social liberalism and their belief in a mixed economy in with the extremists to discredit their ideas and opinions.

When you speak of liberals in the United States, they generally believe in stronger government involvement and economic interference in the economy.
Though some of their policies may be critiqued fairly as 'socialist' in a sense, even liberals in the United States are on the right side of the political spectrum. Most liberals believe in capitalism and a free market economy, they just believe in regulating it more.

I don't think if you truly are a communist or a socialist you would be a gun owner, because both of those ideologies stress the power and control of the State. Including a complete monopoly on the use of force.

You're close, but I'd like to see if the good counselor gets it square on the head.

True socialism is like true conservatism. Some might think you're only a true conservative if you're an evangelical who thinks gay marriage is equitable to terrorism and Israel must be backed at all costs. Some conservatives think you're only a true conservative if you want all drugs decriminalized and and lean towards non-intervention or isolation.

'true' doesn't mean much. Unless you don't believe in RINOs.
