The EPA says US carbon dioxide emissions are running in the range of 5000 to 6000 million metric tons per year. The article referenced estimates 600 million tons (metric? it doesn't say, but a metric ton is about 10% more mass than a 2000 lb ton) in February 2013.
So the US alone emits 8-10 times as much as all the volcanoes in the world in round numbers.
We can't do much about volcanic emissions, but we can do something about emissions created to fulfill human needs. Fossil fuels will go the way of the horse and buggy. That will be good for the economy too, just not for the fossil fuel businesses.
