I have a Remington 700 SPS Tactical (with a bull barrel) and I'm wanting to thread the barrel.

First, is it possible to thread this barrel (due to it being a bull barrel)

Second I have never done a threading before, so should I have a gunsmith do it? Thanks!

yes, it's possible.

Unless you have tools/equipment/skill to keep the threads concentric to the bore, you should have a pro do it. Threading it concentric to the barrel's outer surface does not mean it will be alligned to the bore. Comps are not as critical as suppressors, but you'd still want it to be alligned to the bullet trajectory as it leaves the muzzle.

As far as who to take it to, I always recommend Steve Baldwin at Mechanical Accuracy in Jones. He does precision barrel work & will get it threaded aligned & true. His prices are good & his work is excellent.
