When I lived in Altus that's how I always heard it pronounced..

Most of the time when I have to talk to a Yankee service rep on the phone they really butcher Muskogee. When I say "Just like the song Okie from Muskogee, they say what? Never heard it."

My family came to Hobart before statehood. I grew up there and spent most of my life there and "everyone" says Ho-bert (or burt)

I used to live in Nacogdoches TX. It was always entertain listening Rahid (I mean Bill) from ATT customer service try to pronounce it.

I'll give them the odd pronunciations, but Oklahoma was never, and never will be a southern state.

They did a bunch of videos of trying to pronounce town names from various southern states, and Nacogdoches made their Texas list.

Meh, it's a time line thing. Didn't become a state til the 1900s. Was still Indian territory during the Civil War. Not a state, so it couldn't be a southern one. That distinction lays entirely with the members of the CSA.
