What is the "big" gun you are shooting. There are many .22 conversions for Glock, SIG, almost all spec 1911s, and many other named pistol builders. Most times these kits are cheaper than a stand alone .22 pistol and you have the added benefit of practicing cheaply with the actual firearm you will be using for SD.

If you just want a plinker. You might look at some non semi-autos. You can find the Heritage 22 revolvers for around $125 bux. Academy puts them on sale almost every Christmas for $99. They are great plinkers, just not semi auto.

I have had a Bersa, Buckmark, Sig mosquito, and Beretta. All were good .22's. It depends on what you want it for. I really like the Bersa.

Ruger or Browning Buckmark.

I went with a Buckmark. Both are great options. Both are equally reliable and accurate. The Buckmark just has the easier (and free) trigger mod. If you get the Buckmark, google "Heggis flip" and watch the how to.
