I am between Best Buy and Sam's, just north of the Mosque.

I like Whiteside; I take my son to play there. Weird that they don't have swings though.

I looked at a house that backs up to the Best Buy, but ended up on the other side of 41st.

Whiteside is a nice park minus the swings, it sucks that the pool is only 3.5 feet deep. It's like a giant kiddie pool, full of ameba's and pee pee.:disappoin But it's a nice park for walking. I walk my dogs over there when the weather is nice.

Makes one wonder what the rankings would be without motor vehicle theft data. Seeing that NYC, Tacoma, Federal Way, Jacksonville, and Chicago are supposedly safer places to live than Tulsa and OKC I have to raise the BS flag on this one.

If anything, vehicle theft probably lowered Tulsa and OKC's rankings, compared to the other urban areas.

This is all based on Per Capita, right? By those measures, the larger cities are often safer than mid-sized cities (looking at violent crimes) just due to the extreme volume of people living there. If you are 1 person in 400,000 in Tulsa versus 1 in 8,400,000 in New York, you are much more likely to be a victim of a violent crime here than there. It doesn't mean we have MORE crime than NYC.

If it wasn't for minimum populations or crimes reported for the purposes of these studies, then Sand Springs or Anadarko or whichever small town has an isolated murder would be the "least safe" city in Oklahoma on a given year.

I used to live a few blocks from there in the duplex area, closer to the YMCA. Never had any trouble there. Now I'm down on 61st and Yale, west of LaFortune park.

Yea, I like the mosque. It is much better than when the property was Stevenson Elementary, just sitting empty and going to waste (my family has owned this house since 1972). It's cleaned up now. A good number of Muslims have moved in around me, but (and this may sound prejudiced, but what the heck) they purchased many of the homes that fell into disrepair due to aging owners and have renovated them, restoring the area. Which is nice.

I just like to say I live by the mosque because... well honestly... it riles folks up sometimes :D

Amber, you found me out. I in fact live on Hudson, though not on the Best Buy-side. It's a pretty nice block save for the traffic to/from Skelly. You would have liked it here :)

I will end my thread derailment at this time .

Per Capita or not, I lived in all the cities I have listed, worked for the JPD/JSO in Florida, and then the Pierce County Sheriffs office in WA, was stationed in Chicago and NYC with the Navy. Still have to call BS. Yes I know about the so called statistics of the Per Capita studies.
