One other piece of advice I'd like to pass on. When you first begin carrying in public, you will feel that everyone around you is looking staight at you, or more specifically, straight at your holstered gun. But believe me, no one is looking any harder to learn if you are carrying than you were looking at someone else back before you even began thinking about carrying a gun of your own. In time, you will become much less self-conscious.

Which Comp-Tac did you get? You say you have Comp-tac and the Cross-breed? Do you favor one over the other? I did go to OKC yesterday and did stop at H & H and you're right, they did have a good collection but they were out of one for me, since I'm a lefty. I was filling out the form to order the Cross-Breed, should I get the J-clips and the Velco Straps? I don't want to add cost to my order if it's not really needed, since I'm not sure how I will like the holster, although I'm 99 percent sure I will because I trust ya'lls judgment.

Sorry Mods, if this thread is getting off subject and I realize that the current discussion belongs in another section.

I went with the clips on my CB. Also the Horse Hide is softer & easier to break in.

The velcro requires the belt with velcro on the back. Clips work with any belt. As for belts.

Looper Leather Belt- $49 http://www.looperlawenforcement.com/looper-reinforced-holster-belt.html

or

Amish Belt - $29 http://www.hanksclothing.com/amish_belts_black_buy.html

Thanks MightyMouse and GunRunner, I ordered my CB last night and now the long wait begins and I know it will be worth it. I bet I will feel like everyone is looking at me at first, lol.

I think you'll be happy with the Crossbreed. I ordered one for my Hi-Power on a Tuesday and had it in my hand by Friday. And, yes, all in the same week.

Wow, did they tell you in the emails that you get after the order that it will be 4 - 6 weeks, or 5 weeks? Maybe since mine is a lefty it will take longer and they already had some of yours made up? That does give me hope as I'm like a little kid at Christmas, I have a hard time waiting, lol.

Well, the folks at CB did say that they use the same holster for the BHP and the M1911, so it is quite possible that they keep a few of those on hand. Nonetheless, every CB holster I've ever ordered has been here in no more than a week. But that's been a couple of years ago now, and they may be busier (and they should be--they make a fine product). Hope you don't have to wait too long.

Also, I've had a hard time finding a IWB holster (specifically for the Glock 30) in the Lawton Area, does anybody know where a good place is to get one? There is a gun show in town this weekend, so I may find one there. If not, I may be going to OKC this weekend. I did get a cheap-o Uncle Mikes, but its not going to suit my needs, but will work temporarily.

Thanks for any replies, or advice you may have for a new permit holder, thanks, Ski

Thanks in advance for any replies.

You can also try optics planet they carry a large suppy of holsters and other gear.

I have had a question that I have been wanting to ask for some time, but just forget to ask it on one of these threads.

A couple of months ago there was a thread about an incident that someone here had when an officer stopped him for some minor traffic violation. The way I remember it was that he immediately told the officer he had a CCL. The officer asked to see his weapon. I believe he said that when he produced the gun the officer took the loaded gun from him. I admit to not being positive about the loaded gun part. However, as I recall the officer took the gun, unloaded it, looked at it and then returned it and the cartridges to the man.

The discussion that followed mostly focused on the issue of the cop taking his weapon from him. Most thought that the officer was wrong in taking and handling the weapon.

My question revolves the situation where some officer does ask to see your weapon and take it from you. If the gun is loaded do you unload it before giving it to him?

I have posed this question to a couple of really experienced people. Both suggest that any officer who asks you to see the weapon is simply creating a dangerous situation. They question why would they want someone they don't know to produce a loaded gun?

They suggest that would be a dangerous thing to do and I agree with them. Also, why create another dangerous situation by forcing someone to unload a gun. It simply doesn't make good sense.

However, if you are ever in a situation where an officer wants to take your loaded gun, do you ask if he wants you to unload it? Do you just unload it before you hand it to him?

My thought is that if put in that situation, I would attempt to unload it before handing it to him. My gut tells me that I don't want to hand a stranger, even if he is an officer of the law, my own loaded gun.

The more I think about this situation, the more I think the officer is flat out wrong in asking anyone for their weapon. The only instance where I think this is necessary is if the officer stops someone with a CCL for a more serious reason than a simply traffic violation.

Anyway, I just wanted to pose this question and see what kind of responses I got.
