"Planking"... what is wrong with these people????

I heard about this on the radio this morning. Planking is the act of laying down on your stomach hands at your side and face down, have someone take your picture and post it on the internet. You have to Google it to really appreciate the complete and utter...(please insert word that escapes my mind) of these people. What is wrong with these people! Do people not do drugs anymore?! Are these the people that voted for obama and they finally realized what obamacare is going to do to this country. I thought 30" wheels on an 82 Caprice looked bad until I heard about this.

Am I missing something here? The way you describe it, it sounds pretty harmless to me. Silly, granted, but harmless.

I suppose it's not the act itself that bothers me, it's the people that jump on something like this and think they are doing something special just to get attention, it's like the person who gets on facebook and posts "I'm going to go eat now". They're like the people who like to wear their pants around their ankles, or talk on cell phones at quiet restaraunts. It's not the people that created a movie called Jackass, so much even though they are a waste of oxygen, it's people who have watched the movie and found it entertaining that I have lost respect for. I guess sometimes I look at something that makes no sense and have to wonder, just because you can doesn't mean you should.

A couple of months ago my sister sent me a text message. "Check your email and see what our mother posted on Facebook". I do not have a Facebook for just this reason. I don't, don't, don't want to know these things.

I expected it to be verbal ramblings. It was a picture of my mom lying face down in the "gym" at her office. My sister explains this is something Facebook people are doing. I shake my head and text her back telling her to quit sending me such emails.I had no idea it was a "worldwide phenomenon" until I saw a thread on another forum last week similar to this one.

Dude, I have no idea. My mom is in her 50's and is by the numbers one of the most intelligent people I know. I'm at a loss.

I probably don't have much room to talk, as I have been known to pose inappropriately with a variety of mannequins and statues, all the while giggling like I just got a new box of crayons to eat. Once even suffering the embarrassment of disarming (literally) a clearly faulty and dilapidated mannequin in a small but crowded store. Yet, planking is still somehow dumb in comparison.
