7mm ammo question

I just got a Remington 700 and it shows to use 7mm Remington magnum ammo. I bought some ammo from academy and the box says its 7mm-08 Remington. Just wondering if that ammo is fine for that rifle. Thanks !

7 mag has a long action, 7mm-08 is a short action. .308 case necked down for a 7mm bullet. Take the ammo back.

You rifle needs the one on the right ... you got the one on the left in the ammo box.

Glad I saw this, just picked up a Savage 110 7mm mag and was a little confused about the ammo.

For what its worth, to add to the confusion, Rem. for a period of several years, decided to rename the 280 Rem., the 7MM Rem. Express.

This is what came to mind for me also.
On top of that a few folks refer to some of the other 7.62 stuff as 7mm.
Not something I think is helpful.
Plus all the other variation on European calibers.
When in doubt alweays ask.
