Tick - tock - tick - tock...

The fix is in. Time will run out.

The full house won't vote on the bill until the 9th or 10th. Maybe it will get to the Senate in time for the Senate commitee to hear it on the 12th, maybe. If not then it won't be heard until the 19th. If it gets thru committee it will need to go to the full senate for a vote. That won't happen until the 23rd or 24th, maybe. If it passes but isn't the same bill as was sent by the house it's got to go to confernce - at that point IMNHO - it's dead. Time runs out. If it is the same and passes it has to go to Fallin. She's got 10 days to sign it. I'm not convinced she will. She's a politician and promises mean nothing to them.

So we might get OC this year assuming everything happens within certain time constraints but all it takes is one missed deadline to bring this thing down to the wire. Two missed deadlines and we're gonna a hear a lotta we tried guys but just ran out of time. Better luck next year.

SB1733 does not have to go to the senate public safety committee...it will go to the senate floor for approval of the amendments. So if the House approves it the 9th then the senate could hear it on the 12th. It does not have to go to conference committee, only if someone requests and I think both chambers have to agree to the conference.

The old saying about how people should not watch how their sausage is made holds true here... OC isn't dead yet... but watching the process is messy! I made 100's of pounds of sausage in my early days as a meatcutter... you put in all the pork scraps and the seasoning into a big hopper that mixes it together and then grinds it a couple of times [one time course & one time finer] to get the final result..

I was just watching this. It is very obvious that the viewership of OETA is very Liberal, OR, OETA is very selective about the questions that are allowed thru.
I wasn't really interested in the questions that the callers asked, although I was hoping some of the posters in this thread would call in and ask a question.
Gleening some kind of information about the status of the legislation is what really interested me.

The only thing I learned was that there are 2 OC bills still alive and I already knew that from this thread.

The "People's Business" starts right now on OETA. The issue might arise during the show.

Based on what I saw this evening, you'd better all be glad this didn't go to a vote of the people. It is clear that almost every caller doesn't know what makes up "open carry".

One woman brought up her fears that what I interpreted as the "Tulsa riots" would re-occur. And, an old woman from Ardmore has a vivid memory of gun-totin' bad guys from her youth. Sheesh!

Based on what you can read on this very forum somedays you should be happy this isnt going to a ballot.

If I had a nickle for every comment posted at OSA that went "I am all for my rights and stuff... but that OPEN Carry!.... I want my gun to be a tactical suprise...yada yada yada." If you dont want to uncover your gun dont. I would like to tuck my shirt in and let my gun show in the car... out on a rural roadside... the quick trip out to my parking spot......so would most of us who support this bill.
