On a family trip one time we went to see some relatives on an Indian reservation.

They were just hauling a huge dutch oven from a campfire back to the kitchen. "It's a shame you weren't here thirty minutes ago, we just had bear stew!"

yes ,from a bear i killed in new mexico.it tasted like very, very greasy pork.

on a side note bear hanging from a skinning pole with no hide on it looks very much like a person skined out.kinda spooky

Agree on both counts. I went on a bear hunt in North Carolina in 2008, the meat was inedible as far as I'm concerned.

we had a friend that killed one a coupla years back, here in Arkansas, we had the meat all ground into sasuage, it was great, a lot less greasy that pork and a very good taste. wish we had some more. The meat locker that we had process the Bear does a lot of wild life and he always does a good job, we've had him do several wild hogs and lots of deer over the years, that may make a difference too.

I've had bear a couple of times. Once a friend who's dad was a colorado bear guide, his was outstanding. again with some other friends in Alaska. Both times it was good. I don't know what they did to prepare it before cooking, but what ever it was, it worked.. Blitzfike

Had bear stew in Washington State and sauerbraten style bear in Germany. Both were good. A skinned bear does look a little like a human, especially the hands.
