Back in the late 70's, one of my uncles [who was a Ford mechanic for 30 yrs] beefed-up a '69 Mustang Fastback for me. It was super hot. I had it only 30 days when I had it out on a county road one night seeing what it could do... I was up to 130MPH when I went through a intersection that had a DIP the size of the Grand Canyon with a 4ft wide pot hole 10" deep at the bottom of it! I busted both tie rods, folding the tires underneath like Doc Emmitt Brown's Delorean time machine...went airborn for well over 100 feet and then flipped end-over-end 3 times.

The impact was so hard that the next morning we found the gas cap that had been secured between the rear-tailights where the fill opening is located with a 1/8th inch steel cable .. wedged under the driver's seat-- the cable had been snapped like a wooden match. It is a really strange sensation watching in what seemed like slow motions as the driver's side window & windshield shatter into millions of small pieces and knowing it was my head causing it. No air bags in '69 Mustangs!

So I need another Mustang... you know what they say about getting back into the saddle.... and over-coming your fears. :P

<-------------------------1207 rwhp!!!

And I'll bet it struggles to turn into pit row at idle. :D

In all seriousness, it takes a lot of tech to put that much horsepower down and keep it in one piece. But, it takes a whole lot more to do it AND make it stop, turn and be liveable on the street. I wonder if that 1100hp Stang is very streetable on a daily basis. I'd bet not. In contrast, a Ferrari 458, Lanborghini Gallardo, Audi R8, etc. have actually proven to be insanely fast, relatively quick and liveable on a daily basis. That they look gorgeous doing it is a plus, not the reason they should command prices of $200K or more.
