Yep he can get a 5.3 for around 500-800 dollars. All the ls1 stuff bolts right on if he wants to go that route. Hell even a 4.8 would be great. 285-300whp would not be hard to do. Another 600 or so for a 4L60E. Custom mounts an a drive shaft. Little modding of the fuel system. Done. Just saying lol. So much potential with the LSX drivetrain. Ford doesn't come close except the terminators but they are expensive and complicated. The new 5.0 is bad ass but cost an arm and a leg.this guy knows!
my statement is very correct. Ford has always been twice as high on parts. Fastest mustangs in OK do have a BIG BLOCK CHEVYS in them, there are a few mustangs with a ford engine that are very fast but they have 50k worth of turbos and prochargers. And i stand firm that the OP should get a 5.0 fuel injected engine harness and computer and make the truck reliable in these 115 degree summers.... That GM lsx engine pakages are very cool but over budget for this build. If you're talking anything close to streetable or an application of what the OP is asking about, your statement is laughable.

ok...Again, for what this gentleman wants, saying that Fords are twice as expensive and not as reliable is a joke.
As for local Ford's having Chevy motors, must be a local thing. At the national level, like in 10.5 Outlaw, the fastest Mustangs have Ford motors.
That's probably great and all but my gut tells me the to steer clear of things that are re-engineered.What about a TBI system? Seems like I've read about a company that specializes in adapting GM TBI systems for Ford applications.
sorry but your too soon. I'm still on the fence on whether or not to rebuild, or replace the motor Ive already got.I sent you a PM. I have the engine and all the goodies you need, ready to go.
I'm not worried about a hijack post away. a couple years ago ( pre-kids) I was steering towards a EFI 460 for the truck. I got a 91 F-250 that I was going to part out for it and everything. It would still be sweet but I'd probably kill myself.Based on the OP's responses he & I have very different goals so I'm going to hush to avoid a thread hijack.good luck OP I hope the project turns out great for you.
Thanks a bunch for the lead! What is the turnaround time to machine a block and the heads? can you ballpark a cost?to the OP if you decide to have any engine machine work done i recommend gaines grinding out of checotah! very good, VERY clean, you can eat off the floors and that means alot to me on machine work. OH and youll get the parts that you brought, back!!
