If you can't get doles to pay for it and don't want to spend the money now on a new windshield. Shoot me a pm. I might be able to repair it for you.

I just need to see the hit in person to confirm.

Just got off the phone with the misses. Here's proof that being nice pays off.

After being jostled around to 4 different people, she was finally able to talk to someone with the authority to make the decision on the windshield. She was told that, as a rule, they don't pay to fix windshields. However, He was sincerely appreciative of how patient, good humored and kind she had been to everyone up and down the chain of phone calls and that he would be happy to pay to either fix or replace the windshield, whichever a pro said would be needed. He even went beyond that and said that if they tried to repair it and the repair didn't hold, he'd replace the windshield. He said he gets phone calls from irate people pretty regularly and that he had zero inclination to help someone who just cussed him out. He thanked her for not being one of those people.

She was instructed to take it to the place that is most convenient for her and to call from the shop, he would give the shop the company CC information over the phone to pay for the services.

Nice to see a company step up and take care of business like that. He even said he was going to have the yard manager inspect the truck, as 'stuff falling out of the back of our trucks isn't exactly how we like to do business.' - she got a big chuckle out of that statement.

I have a CDL. I drove trucks for eight years and city bus for three. I've taken a lot of safety training for driving, and the best thing they teach is awareness. The next best thing is to always allow four seconds between yourself and the vehicle in front of you. Just a tip that might help prevent future incidents.

That's pretty cool to hear.

How does the 4 second rule apply when passing a semi on an interstate? (which is what she was doing)

FWIW: 4 seconds at highway speeds is over 130 yards - which would eventually become occupied by another vehicle it is so large.

This...

Problem is there must be a whole lot of Oklahoma drivers that can't count to four 'cuz I've never seen a one hang that far back as long as I've been livin' here.

While passing? Neighbor, that falls into the "some crap you can't avoid" department. Sorry.
As for drivers moving into the gap, either drive slow enough so the gap widens again, or drive too fast for someone to get in front of you. :p
Seriously, while you can't avoid every problem, a ton of vehicle moving at 65mph is a lot more dangerous than a bullet. You follow firearm safety rules (right?), following a few safe driving rules makes just as much sense. Remember, almost half of the drivers involved in an accident are not at fault, but are still in that accident.
