Where is the affirmative action, special rules and standards now. I think they should be required to have a short, fat white man on the court at all times nad his salary commensurate with the team average or 50% of the highest salary on the team, whichever is higher.
I don't blame the players for asking for or taking the money, but I don't think ANY of them are worth what they are paid. At least in gold, tennis, race drivers, jockeys, blah blah; they are paid on performance for that particular event, not just because of past performance. Can you say "Canseco". Most of the 'players' should be more interested in hiring a money mgr instead of a player agent and become responsible for managing and planning for retirement; but that works for all of us, too.
A boxer can get $10 mil just to sign a match, run around the ring for 92 secs and fall down screaming "NO MAS". Sign me up. Make the same match winner take all and you will see 'an ass whooping'.
Why not just go ahead and pay college athletes, HS, JrH, hell let's pay Little Leaguers and ruin ALL sports.
