Well councilor, I've had this discussion with co-workers before...the overwhelming position seemed to be that a BUSINESS is not the same as a HOUSE. So therefore, if he intends to do business with the PUBLIC, then he is acknowledging that his business is a PUBLIC place despite the fact it is PRIVATELY-OWNED.

How do you see that argument? I thought it was a good argument. It is the same as Walmart...they essentially choose to do business in Oklahoma with the public and therefore should respect the laws of Oklahoma. They should have the right not to let me in their houses with a gun, but in their store, they should not be able to decided who gets Constitutional rights and who doesn't. What say you on this JB? Is there any validity here (even if you don't agree)?

So then by that logic...on my PRIVATE property...I CAN say "No gays" right??? Of course I'd never do that, but I want you guys to explain the difference to me???

were those co workers standing members of the Supreme Court?

You have to be in a protected class for "doing business with the public" to have any teeth.

The concept of protected classes is the epitome of inequality.

But of course, HE still gets to carry a gun...he is better than you...that is the only explanation I can think of?

There is another explanation but you won't like it any better. It could be that he is uncomfortable with the lack of training anyone has to have before being able to get a conceal carry license in this state. If you had ever sat through and watched, (not been run through yourself because then you should have been focused on what you were doing and not what everyone else was doing) one of the "qualifiers" for a conceal carry class you would see exactly what I am talking about. It terrifies me to know that people get their conceal carry licenses in this state every single day and they are not only not proficient with their firearm, they are not even familiar with the basic manipulation of that weapon, up to and including, safely loading and unloading it, finding a sight picture (or even knowing what a sight picture is), dealing with a malfunction ... I could go on ... Having helped enroll folks in, and teach SDA classes for a period of time I am extremely grateful that the vast majority of those folks go home, put their gun and their paperwork in a drawer and NEVER give finishing the process to get their license a thought ever again.

LOL...well there was one guy (the most liberal of course) that agreed with y'all..but the others saw validity in the fact a business is a place that you do business with the PUBLIC and therefore you must respect their rights if you'd like to do business. I see both sides of the argument.

Yes and most people who carry are not part of any protected class

Some are "more equal" than others.
His business, his rules. He should be able to ban ANYBODY he wants to.

People with blue hair? Disabled people? etc, etc??? How do you balance the civil rights part with the gun part?

Tell me the name of the restaurant and I will see if he lets me wear a powdered wig in there LOL.

It terrifies me that most people think it's OK to have to meet some qualifier, then pay to exercise their rights.

OK - freedom of speech, let's see your punctuation skills scores....OK...now hand over 100 bucks.
Freedom of the press, let's see how you spin the story about youths targeting old people...fine...100 bucks, please.

I see both sides of this as well...BB is right...lots of dumbasses are armed and just like a teen driver might run you over, they might shoot you by accident at McDonalds...I suppose the fact you must petition the gov't and pay to exercise a right is crap, but then again, the other side of me at least would feel better if folks had to demonstrate competency (at no cost of course) before they got their permit...the CC class doesn't teach these zombies a thing about gun safety, maintenance, or fire arms etiquette.

I think that you may be confused as to the qualification of the typical LEO. GC is the exception when it comes to safety and ability, the average officer is no safer with a weapon than the average citizen.
