Where did that picture come from? The pack at the upper left looks like a parachute, which would've been ditched upon landing. The bayonet is the 16" version from early on in WW2, and would have been traded in for a 10" version by 1944. The M1911 was carried mainly by officers, I think, who wouldn't be carrying a radio under normal conditions. And the radio itself is the small SCR-536 used on the squad level; often the backpack SCR-300 was used on the company and battalion level, like this one carried by a Marine radioman in Saipan:

Since this is the radioman's kit, I'm going to guess batteries. Another thought was Bangalore torpedo but it doesn't look like what I found online.
