How's your dog? And daughter n son doing? And glad ur posting. Missed ya in a guy way.

And cool holster.

That dog is now a house dog. We got him neutered two weeks ago, and those deep gaping holes are completely filled in. Now, I am truly surprised by that. Honestly, I thought the dog would linger on a while and die. Leaving those holes open like that went against common medical practice, but it really worked. It makes me wonder about the wound care treatments I perform - if maybe leaving wounds open to air would help them heal.

My daughter drove over to Ft Lee and picked up her brother for the weekend. They're both in VA - she's at Little Creek and he's at AIT in Ft Lee, his school is six months and he is working with computer driven lathes, presses and things I don't have a clue about. I carefully talked him out of going to Jump School. I told him the oil fields don't have a great demand for parachutists. Just to keep applying for all the advanced welding and shop schools he can get. He seems to listen to my advice, at least right now.

I really have been tied up with my little project, but the need to know just kept gnawing at me; if those 320 grain slugs would bind up the Alaskan. If that brass would swell and become lodged in the cylinder. The Alaskan performed beyond my expectations with those heavy loads. But it was the first time that my hand got sore from shooting it. It's not sore now, like it would be with the Taurus UL, but it did throb after I put 12 rounds of those 320 grain through it.

Son, you are a glutten for punishment aren't you. Might as well make your next gun one of John Linebaugh's big bores. Why stop with the Ruger?

Well, I'm on the notification list with Bud's when a Ruger Alaskan 454 Casull comes up. I just love big bore snubbies, and I like the way the recoil twists my wrist. Look! My Kramer high rider came in for the Alaskan!

Here are my three big bore snubbies; a Charter Arms Bulldog Pug, in .44 Special.
A Taurus 444 Ultra Lite .44 Magnum.
And my flagship of the Fleet - my Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan in .44 Magnum.

Please tell your Daughter and Son, Thanks for their service to our Country! And nice looking holster you got yourself there. Just picked up a 44 mag to carry on Hog Hunts and such. Now to find some practice rounds for it.

And great news on that dog! Most would have just put him down.

Love the "howdy gun" pics. :D
My Great Uncle was FBI. That's what he called a gun with a heavy recoil like yours when shot one handed. :D

I don't remember if I posted this or not, and I'm too lazy to look back. I did a little horse trading with Okie4570 and ended up with these to try in my S&W 65-5. Might be quite the experience. :D

Why, thank you, Mr. Glock! I'll sure tell those two kids! And that dog, now, haha! There is a thunder storm coming and he freaks out! I think you'll find some types of .44 Magnum ammo on Midway USA. But I went hunting specifically for Grizzly ammo and Midway carries it. The lower priced practice ammo like American Eagle may be harder to find. However, in your Redhawk even very powerful .44 Special rounds will offer next to zero recoil. The Magtech Cowboy Action rounds are what I use for practice in my Bulldog. But like you, I like to shoot Magnums in a Magnum.

I'm not a huge fan of snubbies but I am a huge fan of .44 magnums (and .22 magnum and .357 magnum), the 3" Ruger GP100 is about as short as I like but that Ruger Alaskan is very, very sweet, I would love to try one in .454 Casull (also because I'm a huge fan of the .45 Colt).

How's Gene? I saw nobody asked and I hate to see him get left out.
