If it were just a matter of two people wanting to be married they could simply go to a justice of the peace or whatever the equivalent is in that state.
Effing idiots.

This is where your argument has a fatal flaw. 2 men or 2 women cannot SIMPLY go to a justice of the peace or whoever. If they could, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

It begs the question of why can't they? The answer is the title of the OPs thread......he's against gay marriage. He should mind his business on the issue unless he wants to marry a guy.

If I did not know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it would snowball exactly like it has, I would not have a problem with it. I still would not have a problem if it included protection for those people who are being forced to go against their beliefs. That is not happening.

I am against gay marriage when those who do not believe in it are forced to participate. That is what is happening because the activist are not happy just getting it legal, they want to force it down everyone's throat just like religious fundamentalist want to force their beliefs on everyone else.

Whatever happened to "its my business and I have the right to refuse service, just as you have the right to not do business with me"?

Here, but occasionally There.
I would really like to know one thing about cases such as this one:

How many of those wanting to be married in a religious ceremony are actually religious?

For that matter, how many heterosexuals that get married are actually religious and want is thus, or do they just want the pomp and ceremony of a "church wedding" as opposed to a marriage by a Justice of the Peace? I really have to ask that last question because there are just way too many divorces in this country to believe that those folks are (or were) really serious about their religion.

Nobody is forcing anyone into a gay marriage.....those businesses that want to discriminate can discriminate. They'll just have to pay a fine for ignorance. We can call it taxing the stupid.

I agree. However being a hypocrite isn't against the law.

Almost forgot, they can in Idaho but we are still having this conversation because it is really not about gay rights, but the right to shove their beliefs on everyone else.

Next up, to promote equality for gays we are going to take all of those men who have had their left nut removed and give them complete sex change operations. This will help even out the numbers since only about 4% of the population is gay. :D :D
