I'm just sad a beautiful town like Waco has had its image forever tarnished.

******* shithole. I spent a week there one night. Alpine, TX through Austin to Waco. 13 hours and 500 something miles, much of it on I-10 through one of the worst ice storms in west Texas history, before black coffee and anger wore off and we found ourselves in Waco without the gumption to persevere. Oddly enough in the Homewood Suites you can see that Twin Peaks from. Another night and I'd want to kills something too.

My favorite Waco (Lorena, but close enough) violence story is Billy Joe Shaver shooting that dude in the head. "Where do you want it?" I saw him live a couple years later and he did "Wacko from Waco" and prefaced it by saying "I shot 'em right between the mother and the f&cker". If that ain't country I'll kiss your ass.

I've been quite a few divey biker bars around OK and TX and most are posted "no colors". I find it hilarious, and bizarre a chain restaurant is a more "hardcore" biker bar than most actual biker bars. It's a weird world, Jack.

That's no joke. WAYYYY back in the day, there was a strip in the OKC are with a buttload of strip clubs. One of them, I kid you not - was kind of a redneck-country- themed place. Wouldn't let me in. (leather, chopper, etc..wasn't wearing colors)
Made every bar on the strip but that one, I used to get around quite a bit. Seen a lot of crap get started, yet only one time have I seen a biker start a fight in a club. (and that was Players, back in the 80s)
I love this kind of stuff - makes all the actors rethink their positions.
How they gonna charge 170 people with homicide in this kind of deal?

This is hardly a biker love fest.

My point is that my interactions with 1%ers have been good. For all their image of rowdiness, violence, etc., they are much nicer clients than many of the groups of people who portray themselves as "good and nice." That's my only point. As LEOs, I'm sure there are many people here who have had extremely negative interactions.

Also, there is a freedom that is hard to describe that comes from "not giving a F**k" and living life by your own rules. It's hard to describe it, and ultimately there are consequences for your actions. However, that doesn't lessen the seductiveness of the illusion. Most folks who live by that philosophy end up losing their freedom.
