Yea I got my butt up and got down there, whew that was close...
But I'm on the payroll now just waiting on the first deposits.....
Haters gonna hate....what ya gonna do.....Rollin......
I figure 35 years in "the work force"... I deserve a ride
Heck I payed my share , time to start collecting.....yep
I can walk, hunt, shoot, bow hut, pickup games at the boys club, I just can't do it for very long at a time
It's pretty common, heck everyone's doing it, don't miss out

Not sure if that is sarcasm or what. I will say I dropped out of school at 15, lied about my age and went to work full time because my father was hurt and could not work. I have worked right up until things got bad. Started with construction, then military, back to construction, then all kinds of jobs when construction died out for awhile. I worked as a bouncer and doorman in everything from strip clubs to gay bars. Managed convenience stores, worked in fast food at times too. Ended up working in nursing homes where I taught myself to repair medical equipment, then grew that into one of the largest medical equipment companies online with customers worldwide. When the economy started tanking business fell off as my health started going downhill. Now I am on disability and I hate it. I need to be doing something, so I decided to do something I can on my good days which is try to find or create healthier food for normal people that still taste good.

A little of both.
I too have worked since I was 14, mostly construction. Heavy commercial sheet metal and iron work, welding, you know all the hard stuff young guns dream of
Fame and fortune, go hard or move out of the way
Never ask for help, bear down and get it done, no whining allowed
I don't pretend I know what or why other people do things , its Not my business
Now I'm broke down and broken, working a little job that I can do , for now
I don't like it either, my hañds just don't work any more, they just hurt
You can't tell it by looking at me , I just hurt
Fine bit of whining will stop now, I look forward to letting them rest
Be safe, be calm, this too shall pass...

Don't it just piss you off? Makes me freaking crazy at times. So many things I used to do that I no longer can. So many things I taught myself to do that I can not get a job at. When I was going through the disability BS they kept asking me "Are you depressed?" no I am just pissed about it. It was almost like they wanted me to be depressed.

Don't get me wrong guys... I know there are people out there who have problems similar to yours - difficult or next to impossible to do much on a reliable basis. We're not complaining about you guys, about people who CANNOT be gainfully employed. But you know we see people every day who have milked the system - maybe me more than others, yes, it seems inundated with it. I've seen a girl in her early 20s on disability with no medical problems, no medications and no doctor. When I asked her why she was on disability, she said it was because she couldn't read. No ****! Because she couldn't read. Another guy I've seen several times, on disability for social anxiety, young, strapping, healthy fellow, covered in tatts, admits to social drug and alcohol use, again, no medical problems besides his anxiety and no meds. But he quickly points out to me that he can attend concerts and things like that because the attention isn't on HIM, being in a crowd at a concert doesn't bother his anxiety, but being at work at a job does because he is always worried people are talking about him behind his back. He offered this information up as soon as he said he had social anxiety as the cause for his disability. Almost like he'd been through that line of questioning many times before and had his "ready" answer down pat. Well, buddy, I'm glad we get to pay for your cigarettes, booze and drugs for the rest of your life. Enjoy!

:drink: :drunk:

So, like Daniel said - it won't last forever, and in a way, sometimes I look forward to it, sadly. :(

The federal government spends more money each year on cash payments for disabled former workers than it spends on food stamps and welfare combined.

I'll just leave this here for those interested...

while I agree with most posts in this thread....what really ticks me off is - the welfare folks...if you need to balance the SS books take it from the professional welfare group...they receive benefits equal to 20.00 an hour and have never paid in....never will pay....

I can say I am not on SS for the money. Right now it takes me 1.5 MONTHS to get the same amount of money from SS that I made per week on my old job. :( I honestly miss working.

My problem was hit on in this thread. I can mow my yard, but it normally takes me 3 days. I dont hunt other than in my yard. I just cant be counted on with any regularity. That is my biggest problem. I cant tell anyone I will be at work in the morning and honestly assure them it will happen.

Even mowing the yard takes me about a week to recover, guess what, by then the silly thing needs it again. I just cant depend on my body, even siting here to type wears me down to a point that in a short time I am done for a couple of days.

Sadly I have family that will see me on a good day then whine about how I am a leech on the gov system. They sure do not show up when I have been hurt and stuck in bed for a week or more to help with things the wife and kids cant do.

I have been stuck in my house for months at a time, mostly due to back and hips, it pisses me off to have people talk crap about me on the days I make it outside. NOT REFERRING TO ANYONE ON THIS THREAD.

My Dr has me on medical orders,, he said..... Do what you can, when you can, that is the best you can do.

Now for the folks milking SS and welfare, I have no use for them. It took 2.5 years to get approved for SS. We lost everything but our house.

I know of a human male (cant call him a man) that got drunk, crashed his motorcycle and broke his ankle. He filed for SS, because he limps, he got approved on his first try. Makes me want to slap him and what ever fool approved him.

I totally agree that more than a few people need to get the hell off SS and welfare and get a job.

Oh just one last thing, because we are honest when filling out paperwork, we do not qualify for any state help other than RX meds, my wife has no insurance and daughter will be dropped from the state when she turns 18. The last time the lady from the state came to my house she told us that if we legally separated we would "get a lot of benefits." Now where do you think some of the BS is coming from when the state folks push things like that.....

Honest question:

Why do children with working parents get SS disability?

A guy I work with has 3 children and all of them are profoundly autistic and drawing disability every month for life.
I might could see it when the child turns 18 maybe but a 1 year old?

Short answer? Because they are "disabled".
