Time to give the oats a kick. This warm weather is stimulating the oats to grow some. The photo period is lengthening and the weather will be gradually warming causing "green up" in approx 30-45 days.

In about three weeks, lay down some urea at about 50#'s/ acre on your BFO to give them a kick so there will be some early growth to sustain your deer until green up. They will need it. I am going to sweeten my mineral lick this week then freshen it mid March. Big Buck Plus will be bringing their feed and mineral to the Backwoods Hunting Show in late February. Their products are superior to Purina's Antler Max due to certain key ingredient's. The Thicker Than Blood Outdoors boy's have been using their attractant with great success this Fall too.

Is there a dealer anywhere close? That was the disadvantage 2 years ago that knocked them out for everyone in my area.

Kurt Nielsen, and his crew will be at the Backwoods Show Feb 26 - 28th with plenty of feed and mineral. I spent part of the evening with him Wednesday night when I was in Kearney Nebraska. He just sold an elk to a buyer in Tennessee that scored 480" and was raised on his feed. Incredible looking animal. I brought home a couple hundred pounds of feed and some mineral to get me by until he brings in several tons at the upcoming show. I have freshened my mineral lick 2 weeks ago and will load my feeder today.
Kurt is working on getting a mill to produce his feed in the state as demand for his products is increasing. I can send you his cell in you want to talk with him.

My 5 plots of BFO have been hammered to and below the ground this year, the plots look like hell now but the deer have benefited, I'm trying to figure out my next plan, clover? Milo? Beans would be great for the nitrogen fix but not sure if I'm equipped to plant them. What should I do? Plots are established, easy ground to work, need a new mix
