Well, I think the term "America's Gun" may be based mostly on sales volume more than anything else. Sure, they are fine guns, but I agree to disagree that they are "America's Gun" by any means.

Yep. I'm with you there. I like mine for sure, but I didn't necessarily desire to own one in the same way I do a Kimber 1911. You could get all sorts of weird quirks when you start calling something "America's (blank)" whenever you cross-reference with sales.

On another note I just remembered how the Cowboys like to refer to themselves as Americas team. That kind of always annoyed me. No disrespect to Cowboys fans.

Maybe he means sleek in the literal sense, in that it's "smooth", in which case it was/is the smoothest design ever to rise to this level of popularity. The lack of buttons, switches, and sharp points was/is impressive and practical. I do wonder, though, how sales have compared to 1911s and S&W revolvers, overall.

When was the last time you saw a cop carrying a S&W revo or 1911? There's your answer to the sales question.

Remember though it wasn't the individual officer that purchased the pistol, except in rare cases where the department required the officer to do so. I know a lot of departments in Oklahoma require the officer to buy his own equipment, unlike the department I worked for in Georgia where the department issued all gear, and you had no choice on the weapon except for your backup/off duty gun(even then you had to pick from a prescribed list).
As with most departments like this you always got the lowest bid contract items.

For the devotee of utilitarianism, Glocks are uber sleek. The cognoscenti will nod in agreement. The rest of y'all back off and stop your negativity...someday you too may become enlightened. Meanwhile, silence is your best bet.

Never had a Glock - I've heard several times that they have leading problems because of the rifling. I like to caste and shoot lead bullets, and like my M&Ps.

The nice thing about Glocks is all the aftermarket support. Match barrels that don't have a leading problem can be had from Barsto and KKM.
