@steelfingers - My one concern I cannot get over is the serial number. It does not come up on the Colt site, that happens many times though. The Serial number is not clean, it is VERY bold and the numbers look a bit like someone may have re-etched them in there. I am a paranoid guy when something like that stands out to me. Sorry, just my thing.
I tried the colt web site too with no known serial number.

On the top of the slide, Gold Cups of yesteryear had a rib about 1/4-1/2 wide going the entire length of the slide to assist with glare.

I'm also thinking the front sight was staked instead of dove tailed. And the trigger..oh...that glorious trigger...had a wide, rounded face instead of the narrow 3 hole triggers they use now.

Just asking, as I didn't know. Thanks!

I'm reading with interest too, and I'd say $500 tops as well. What surjimmy said; the new XE series can be had for not much more and they have a plethora of nice things already; undercut trigger guard, G10 grips, Novaks...

Thanks. When I get back Friday, I'm going to go by and break it down for a closer look, but after guys like you, that know your business, I'm going to fish for 500 or under. I know he has made a ton on it already.
Thanks

When did Colt change out the nice, wide Gold Cup trigger for the three hole Videcki style?

I thought all Gold Cups had the nice, wide, fat trigger that is so comfy on the finger. :ugh2:

And it looks like the top rib on the slide is gone too. :anyone:
That is a wide trigger, you can tell by looking at the frame opening right at the bottom of the trigger guard.

Its a Gold Cup Trophy not a Gold Cup National Match, so no rib but you get a beavertail, and its a series 80.
Currently around Tulsa they are running about $1,200 new.
The GCNM series 80 has the round top also but the new GCNM series 70 has the flat top.

I think this is the winner response. There were, in fact, more than one model of the Gold Cup!@
