In time, he may eclipse all former presidents for his ability to lead the country.

Not even close man. But not even close to the worst either.

He did serve his country admirably and nobody can say he didn't lead as good a life as could really be expected of anyone. He is an example of what anyone SHOULD strive to live like.

Well, i didn't want him to die. i think he was a rather good President, a war hero and above all a decent man.

Having said that, he's gone. There's no point in making a thread about him just to force or shame everyone into liking the guy. When Obama dies i think you're gonna have a thread in this forum saying 'good riddance' and talking about how he destroyed this country. If someone doesn't like him, i don't see why we should put on airs about it. The guy is dead and no one here knows him(probably.)

I'd personally never talk **** about a (recently) dead person, provided they're decent people. I'd even extend that courtesy to Obama, out of respect for his family. But i don't think it's right to expect that everyone feels the same way.

Actually, no one is forcing or shaming anyone into anything. If you have nothing good to say, then maybe ... Oh! Oh! I know! Don’t say anything?

It’s just that some people here are actually decent enough to either say RIP or something positive instead of saying something uncalled for and disrespectful about a man who served our country in so many ways.

Surely you have heard that old adage; “it’s better to keep quiet and be thought a fool than to speak and prove it”.

meh we don't even know what the guy is really like behind all the smoke and mirrors.

I liked the guy but he was only human. I don't we should idolize the guy as some sort of mythical hero who we tie so many good things to that to insult him is somehow insulting an idea more than a person. He was a decent dude, but he wasn't Jesus. His death is tragic, but the guy was like 94. He lived a full, good life. certainly a fuller life than 99% of the population of the earth will ever live, and in splendid luxury. I don't think he gives a **** what we think about him. He did ban the importation of semi-automatic rifles in 1994, he tore up his NRA membership card, I believe he also had a hand in NAFTA that ****ed over our manufacturing industry. There was also that rumor about him and heather lind.

I don't want to sit here and **** on the guy, i think he was an overall good President and a decent dude(afaik), but i don't feel inclined to memorialize a dude i don't even know.

I just hope that i can live as long and full a life as he did.

Aw c’mon JD8. You don’t understand? Really? It’s simple, when you think about it.

The answer is: Tough Guys. Internet Tough Guys.

meh, i think very few people are actually pissing on his grave. He was a very successful guy, a decent dude and a war hero. of course there are legitimate folks out there who disagreed with his policies, but i don't think that should reflect on the individual.

Who made him into a demigod? Just thoughts and thanks.
I think you like to read between the lines and if there's no lines you write your own. IMO.
I'm done with this post. I said my peace and will unsub.
Carry on as you wish

Sorry if i read between the lines too much, but when i feel like people are taking something too seriously i tend to knee jerk.

I don't think you're reading between the lines so much as taking yourself and your opinion too seriously lol. Hint: Most people are respectful when people die..... even if they disagreed with them..... so nothing here is really out of the ordinary or over the top.
