“LEOS” aren’t, the city appointed brass however... PoliceMag did a recent pole that showed a LARGE majority of officers nationwide support gun rights. The media, legislators, etc. just don’t care what the guys working the street think never mind the fact they’re the ones who actually know what is and isn’t going on.
ZGXtreme had it right about the political brass vs. street cop. Bill Citty -- whooo, boy -- let's just say he's been a politician in a uniform from nearly the start.
Its new so I guess it's going to be a bit intimidating. I don't understand the issue with it. If an LEO has business with someone, they get an ID and a carry permit and use the computers to check you out. With constitutional carry. They get an ID a d check you out. If your OK in either instance you're good to go. If you have legal issues. You and the LEO have more to discuss. Simple? Maybe?
They whine based on their theories, nothing has been proven and in the end things will roll on just as they did before. What is proven is that if a bad guy has a gun and is after you, it's a nice thing to respond in kind. I remember that guy-I believe it was in Florida-when road rage came into play and the guy was in his vehicle and the other guy had a gun and came up to his vehicle and shot him trough the wndow-he had no defense other than the law and the law wasn't there.
Just wait - the hysteria against constitutional carry will only build, fueled by the media, until the new law goes into effect on 11/01. I wonder how many LEOs they have to talk to before they find one willing to go on camera or on the record as being against CC? I vividly remember the media’s bias against concealed carry permits when that law first took effect in 1995, then when open carry took effect in 2012 - in both instances if you relied on what the media was predicting you’d think that all Oklahomans had better prepare for The Purge, with armed crazies roaming the streets wildly shooting at any moving target. It was quite a letdown for the Chicken Littles when both dates came and went with hardly any notice by the general public. I believe we’re in for the same non-event come 11/01 this year.
I'm sure the streets will run with blood. Just like the other 14 states.
I heard the same arguments when they legalized open carry. "OH MER GOSH! ITS GONNA BE THE OK CORRAL ALL OVER AGAIN!" And.... nothing happened. We still have to alert a LEO when they stop us. We still have to follow the SDA on when to pull and shoot. I just wonder from now til Nov 1st how many people will bother applying and just carry. That is the only concern. They read the law has been passed but miss when it takes effect, carry and get caught, now they are in a heap o' crap.
