I've gotten decent deals from CTD a few years ago. I know that's blasphemy to some of ya, because they seem to raise prices in a shortage (even mid-order, or so I've heard).

Personally, I've been treated worse by Gander Mountain (verifying an order then cancelling it).

YMMV. :drunk2:

I remember buying from CTD back in the 80s, it really was a place to get bargains.

Sportsman's Guide was similar back then, but more into global military surplus, like kerosene powered spotlights from some Slavic country. I mean 30" diameter spotlights.

It was a struggle to keep from buying one.... seriously.

They should change their name to “Price Gougers Are Us”.

I was thinking “Dirt is really darn expensive” would be good too.

After zero’s election when they went to $1,000 for 1k rounds of .223 is when I quit giving them dollars. Yes, I’m a capitalist. Yes, they had stock when others didn’t. No, I wasn’t willing to buy it at that price. Yes, I have exercised my right to spend my dollar elsewhere.

I missed out on the Wal Mart deal mostly because I'm pretty stocked up too and wasn't really watching. I did make a run up there when I saw just how deep the discount was though but was too late. I bet they are kicking their own ass later this week over that pricing!

I'm just wishing I had a few thousand extra in "mad money" to buy some "bang" stocks right now. It's looking like a couple of two baggers are real possibilities from now up to the election. Oh well, I do have a little in the game already, but it's damned hard not to dip into my emergency stash. I suspect I'll have to actually use it for it's intended purpose if things don't change pretty quick. I'm not holding my breath.

Everybody rags on WalMart but when did they ever engage in price gouging on ammo? I think they did us a favor by having their close out sale. I bought enough to last a long time. Good deals were to be had.

Sadly I was short on fundage during the wally world sell off. But I stocked up a bit when I was a regular at USSA, then the weather went to crap and I couldn't go, but I kept buying ammo as if I could.

One of the few good things about the shortage and the price gouging is now my wife completely understands why I've been buying ammo whenever I find a decent deal on it, even though I already have quite a bit. I just wish that I would have spent a little more on .223, 9mm and .40 S&W. But I've got PLENTY of .22 to keep me busy at the range for a while.
