Nope. Not even close. That one is totally on the politicians. We had no business there in the first place, but micromanaging by LBJ and Robert McNamara are what killed over 58,000 Americans and wounded many more.

After the 2nd Tet offensive the VC and the NVA were destroyed as organized fighting units for the most part. Beat to a pulp, demoralized and disorganized as most of their leadership was killed or captured.
It was the perfect time militarily for the US to mount a counter attack to take out the remainder of the enemy but LBJ wouldn’t allow it to happen.
He was afraid of offending Hanoi.
The US had many opportunities to end that war and didn’t take advantage of them.

I wonder if, after our next "civil war" that historians will one day look back at the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries in North America and conclude that our problems leading to "civil war II" were set on a course determined before "civil war I"?

We certainly ceased to be a Republic in 1865, and with the failure of States to secede and govern themselves, it seems inevitable that we all become servants of an ever-growing central power. The constitution has not prevented our current state of affairs, simply slowed the acceleration of the growth.

I don't think the Constitution is supposed to 'prevent' anything'. IMHO it was a statement to world and England that the people on this land mass were forming a new country and a government over here and for England to FO because We The People were in charge over here, not them.

The Bill of Rights were a statement to the newly formed government about how this new government will be formed and what this government did not have the Right to do to the Citizens of the newly formed government.

The Prevention of anything is up to We The People.

The politicians are what are causing this turmoil in this country. It's done by design to defeat a standing President.
It can be shut down in minutes like in Michigan when the states ask for federal help.
Trump isn't the national police force. States have to ask for help. When they did, the rioting ceased immediately because the rioters knew they no longer had permission to burn and loot.

...Now is the time to organize your neighborhood to control entry and have a plan to defend it. Use cars to block entry to anyone who isn't a resident, if threatened defend yourself. Don't fight from your front porch...flank the protesters, find higher ground with a clear field of fire and aim for the leaders. I have to back up this. Our friends just sold 40 acres and a home in the Wellston area. The realtor wouldn't say who wanted to buy it, only that it would be in cash.
After the deal went through they were silently informed on the side that it was a Chinese national, and a lot of land in that area is being bought by them.

Last week, third time we had a real estate agent dropped by....She offered / told us she has a cash buyer ...$175,000 ! Over what we paid, When husband said.... No. Very fast she started to talk of paying for our moving, giving us three Free months rent here, and could increase the price...before she could finish, Husband said NO ! louder and wished her a good day saying he needs to let the dogs out Have a nice day.....and we only been here four years. We have near us four very huge ranches each has a runway, and 3 miles away down the road an Amish / Mennonite community. That's it for miles and miles, nothing 36 miles to town, 6 miles just to get off the mountain.

The farms I use to see for sale...are all sold. Some have a new double wide trailers on them...vacant.
